Call for Submissions: Special Issue on Tax Increment Financing

Reaching Regions is seeking outreach-oriented submissions for a special issue on Tax Increment Financing (TIF).

Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Improving the TIF evaluation and implementation process
  • Political economy aspects of TIF implementation
  • Impacts on overlapping jurisdictions, including school districts
  • Citizen responses to TIF 
  • Legal aspects of TIF
  • Policies to improve TIF accountability and transparency
  • Case studies on TIF implementation and outcomes

Deadline for submission to the special issue is February 15, 2026.

Reaching Regions is the official outreach journal of the North American Regional Science Council. Reaching Regions is open access, peer-reviewed, and publishes outreach articles targeted to non-academic audiences.

Call for Submissions: Special Issue on Migration

Reaching Regions is seeking outreach-oriented submissions for a special issue on Migration.

Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Economic impacts of migration on sending and receiving regions
  • Internal migration trends and their causes and consequences
  • International migration causes and consequences
  • State and local public policy impacts on migration
  • Climate and environmental migration
  • Migration over the life course
  • Human capital and migration
  • Job search and migration
  • Other drivers of migration and consequences for migrants

Deadline for submission to the special issue is May 1, 2026.

Reaching Regions is the official outreach journal of the North American Regional Science
Council. Reaching Regions is open access, peer-reviewed, and publishes outreach articles
written in non-technical language targeted to non-academic audiences.

Contributions may include original descriptive analyses, non-technical summaries of published
academic research, research syntheses, and case studies with broader implications for North
American regions.
