Conference Program
The preliminary program of the 55th North American Meetings of the Regional Science Association International, which will be held at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, is now available at http://www.narsc.org/Program 1113.htm (updated 11/13/08). Registration will begin on November 19th and plenary and parallel sessions will run from November 20th through 22nd. Along with the program, a participant index is also available. To find the date and time of your presentation:
- First, look up your name in the Index (updated 11/13/08). You will find the number of one or more sessions in which you are scheduled to participate as a presenter, discussant or chair.
- Second, look up the session number in the Program (updated 11/13/08) to find the date and time. (Room assignments will be provided in the final program.)
- Additionally, here's a timetable in Excel format.
Discussants
Each paper is assigned a discussant, whose name can be found in a list at the bottom of each session description. Discussants are listed in corresponding order to the papers. In other words, if your paper is second in the session, your discussant is the second person in the discussant list. You should send a copy of your paper via email to your discussant by October 31. (Email addresses are provided in the program.)
Nearly everyone who is presenting a paper has also been assigned a paper to discuss. If you are making more than one presentation, you may have been assigned more than one paper to discuss. You are asked to come to the session in which the paper you are discussing is scheduled and make comments not exceeding three minutes.
In the case of multiple authors, discussant assignments were made on the assumption that the first author is the person who will present the paper. Since this is not always the case, it is possible that someone who is not planning to attend the meetings in Brooklyn will be assigned a paper to discuss. If this happens, simply pass the paper to the co-author who will be at the meetings.
With 686 presentations, this year’s program is the largest in the history of the North American meetings. In order to accommodate so many papers in three days, it has been necessary to schedule a large number of parallel sessions in each time slot. For this reason, it is very difficult to make changes to the program as it now stands without triggering multiple schedule conflicts. Unfortunately, therefore, except in extraordinary circumstances it will not be possible to make changes in the assignment of papers to dates and times.
I hope to see you all in Brooklyn for what we know will be the biggest and we hope will be the best North American Meetings of RSAI ever!
